Double D - SUNFLOWERS

This time over at Double D the challenge is SUNFLOWERS. Don't you just love Sunflowers? Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:

 

 Here's my card:

Soooo....let's pretend this is a sunflower. The label on the die set says it's a cone flower, but it LOOKS like a sunflower, right? I had a sunflower all colored up and I didn't like it, so you're stuck with the cone/sunflower. The background was really fun to do. I cut strips of paper and adhered them to a blank piece of copy paper. HERE'S a video to watch on this technique. I encourage you to try it, it's really fun. I used a die from Simon called Strips that cuts the 1/4" strips for you, so it's really easy. But you can cut your own too.

Can You Handle the Pressure = LEAVES

 Dear Ones~

  There's a new challenge over at Can You Handle the Pressure.   For this challenge blog you MUST use an EMBOSSING FOLDER on your project.  Heat embossing (with embossing powder) is permitted but only IN ADDITION to your embossing folder design.  Each new challenge will have a 'TWIST' which is optional ... your choice to use or not.

Sadly, I am in need of a sympathy card.

 I love the autumn colors on this, and I think the recipient will too. I have used one of my favorite embossing folders by Darice, it's my go-to for all things fall.

Double D - SHAPES

 

Dear Ones~

This time over at Double D the challenge is SHAPES. Use SHAPES on your project, like circles, squares, ovals, triangles or rectangles. Lots of possibilities with this one. Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:

This is what I came up with:

I love making shaped cards, so this was a fun challenge for me. I used Gina's Master Layouts 11 and cut out all the little shapes with patterned and plain paper. The background is embossed with the new Simon Swirled Ridges embossing folder.  It's my new favorite. That "red" isn't really red, it's Cajun Craze, which is more of a rust color. I can't seem to get it right with my camera. 😡

Gears are wheels, right?? I LOVE this die set by Tim Holtz called Vault Watch Gears. So much fun to play with. This card is for our son for his birthday. He is an engineer so I think he'll get a kick out of all the gears. The patterned paper is a digital download that I got on Etsy. Sorry, I don't know the name of the artist.

I have become obsessed with collage lately, and all things vintage, so I thought I would try my hand at that look for this card. Lots of ephemera from my stash, I had a great time putting this together.

THINGS WITH WINGS

 And here's my card:

I LOVE making these little shadow boxes, and they are not that difficult once you get the hang of it. You can really make it any size, it just takes a little figuring. I also love that little moth in the lower left corner. It's part of a die set that is mostly flowers, and the moth is kind of an afterthought with the whole set, but I think it's do dear. I paper pieced the little angel's dress with some patterned paper.

Here's a close up of the little guy. Kinda hard to see him, but his wings are made of glassine paper.

Here's what I came up with:

I have had this Market Baskets die set by The Greetery for awhile and it had yet to see the die cutting machine. I thought it was time to fix that. I love this die set, it's so charming and unusual. The Simply Perfect Layered Blooms die set by Spellbinders is really fun because it has a shape at the bottom of each piece to help you fit everything together perfectly.
