For this card I used Gina K Designs A Year of Flowers Stamp Set by Melanie Muenchinger, and did the masking technique to layer the flowers. I stamped everything on watercolor paper and colored the flowers (and ladybug) with Distress Markers. I love how it turned out - I am such a fan of watercoloring. But then, dear reader, you already know that. *wink* I added a few Glossy Accents dew drops on the petals of the rose and colored the black flourishes with a black Wink of Stella pen for a little glitz.

Bzzzzz

Dear Ones~
Shall I give a weather update???? I know you are dying to know how cold it is here - lol. The schools are closed because of sub-zero temps. 'Nuff said!!
Today's card is for the Just Us Girls Challenge. It's Trend Week, and our trend is burlap. I don't have a scrap of burlap anywhere, but I did find some burlap ribbon, so that will have to do.

Butterflies are Free

Dear Ones~
Seems like everyone who is writing a blog lately has made comments on the weather. It's the most popular topic of conversation. All I will say about that is it is frigid, and I'm very grateful for our wood stove. My hubby is keeping us toasty warm!! It's cast iron and a real workhorse for it's size.Thought I would show you a picture of the 'ole gal.

Today's card was made for the Mod Squad Challenge, which was to make a pop-up card. Truth be told I dragged my feet on this one. Don't think I've ever made a pop-up card before. But I couldn't let my dear friend Joyce Erb down, so I created this card for her challenge.

I really was flying by the seat of my pants, but I rather like how it came out. I stamped and die cut the butterflies on watercolor paper and colored them with watercolors.

Here is the front:

I used a newly purchased paper pack from Recollections (Michael's) for the patterned paper. Most of the papers look like watercolor - and if you know me you know how I adore watercolor anything.

Here are the ingredients:
GKD White and Ocean Mist Card Stock
Recollections Painted Fancy Patterned Paper
Stampendous Lovely Garden Stamp Set for Butterflies and Sentiment
HOTP 10 Tiny Things Die Set
Cheery Lynn Flourish Die
PTI Doily Die
GKD Dogwood and Butterfly Stamp Set
Stampin' Up Butterflies Thinlits Dies
Stampin' Up Butterfly Basics Stamp Set for Sentiment

Thanks for stoppin' by, I adore your comments. Stay warm, my friends!!

For Dad

Dear Ones~
This will be a short post today. This card is for the Just Us Girls Challenge - this week it's to use the word LOVE on your card.
I made this card for my mom to give to my dad. His favorite color is red - perfect for Valentine's Day!

I used a heart die and cut out the shape 3 times on the white card stock. Then I placed this beautiful cover plate die cut behind it. A few gems and a simple sentiment completed this simple card. I also stamped hearts all over the envelope. My mom will, of course, hand deliver this.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Card Stock
GKD Red Hot Card Stock
GKD Stately Flowers 6 for Sentiment
Top Dog Dies Flower Lace A2 Mat Die

Hope you are all staying warm! It's sunny here, and 30 degrees. Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments.

Watering Can Watercolor

Dear Ones~
It's a sunny day here in Northern Michigan. But we had -5 when I got up this morning. I know that's not as cold as some places. And as everyone keeps saying, "After all, it IS winter!!" Geesh!!!! Enough already!! I still don't like it!!!

Today's card was made for the Mod Squad Challenge. This week the challenge is to include water somehow in your card.

Here's what I came up with:

My dear friend, Kathy sent me a HUGE stash of die cuts for Christmas, and I have just now gotten around to using some of them. Thank you, Kathy, I can't wait to use more!!! I thought the watering can would be just perfect for this water challenge. Plus I used my beloved Brusho Crystal Watercolors for the background. I sprinkled salt on the wet watercolor to get that wonderful texture. I love how salt makes the watercolor bloom.

Here are the ingredients:
GKD White and Jelly Bean Green Card Stock
GKD Flowers Bloom Stamp Set
Brusho Crystal Colors
Die-namics Stitched Circle Stax Die
Spellbinder Scalloped Circle Die
Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder
Stampin' Up Boho Blossoms Punch
Martha Stewart Leaf Punch
White Enamel Accents
Stash Pearls
And of Course the Watering Can and Flourish from Kathy

Thanks for stopping by, I always adore your comments.
Stay warm and well my friends!!!!
