Altenew January Challenge

Dear Ones~
I can't believe it! I got to enter another challenge today. This time it's the Altenew January Challenge, and here is our inspiration.
http://altenewblog.com/2017/01/01/january-2017-inspiration-challenge/

And here's what I came up with:
This Peony Scrolls stamp set from Altnew is the first set I ever purchased from them. This one came out before Beautiful Day or Peony Bouquet and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. It comes with companion dies too, which is always a bonus. The greeting is from Crafter's Companion. I have had that set forever too, and I cannot tell you the name. I think it might be retired because I have searched for it and have never found it. I decided to color the image with my Zigs, and I tried to pick up the colors in the inspiration photo.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Dark Chocolate Card Stock
Stash Patterned Paper
Spellbinders Lacy Circles Die
Altenew Peony Scrolls
Crafter's Companion Greeting
Zig Clean Color Brush Markers
Stash Ribbon

I guess I'm done posting for the night. Have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by. You always leave such lovely comments, it makes my heart happy!!!

Double D - Black and White

Dear Ones~
Holy Moly, it's snowing like crazy out there, sure am glad I am inside in my craft room!! It has been awhile since I entered a challenge just for fun. Seems like most of my posts lately have been related to my Design Team duties.

Today's offering was made for the Double D Challenge - Black and White. Just look at the wonderful inspirational tiles they have provided for us. Aren't those kitties so stinkin' cute? Double D is celebrating the one year anniversary of their blog challenge - Happy Anniversary Double D!!!!!!
 http://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2017/01/black-and-white-and-party-continues.html

 Here is my card:
I thought this would be a fun and easy challenge, until I realized I don't have much black and white patterned paper. My plan was to do a bunch of layers with different textures, but it just wasn't in the cards (or card in this case - lol!!) So I decided to pull out my trusty Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set and color the flower and leaves in grays and blacks. It really was quite fun!! You can't see it, but I embossed the black panel behind the focal with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Black Onyx and White Card Stock
Cuttlebug Swiss Dot Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Decorative Curved Square Die
Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set
Zig Clean Color Brush Markers
Stickles
irRESISTible Pico Embellisher

So thanks for stopping by, my friends. I adore your comments!!! Stay well and stay warm (or cool as the case may be - ha ha). Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Just Us Girls #377 - Color Week

Dear Ones~
This week it's COLOR WEEK over at Just Us Girls, and our gal Chris has chosen PINK, NAVY and GRAY for our color palette. As usual with color challenges, you are to use all three of the chosen colors as well as any neutrals that you need.  Neutrals are white, ivory, kraft, black, brown or gray.

Here is my card:
I pulled out my trusty Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set for this card. I haven't used it for awhile and I thought this challenge was a great opportunity to play with it. I did the leaves in gray, and I think they look awesome!! After I inked up and stamped the flower image with the various layering stamps, I used my Prismacolor Pencils and white gel pen to enhance the image even further. I need a little practice, but I like the way it makes the image pop even more.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Navy and White Card Stock
Darice Circle Interlock EF
PTI Noted: A2 Oval Dies
Altenew Peony Bouquet Stamp
Crafty Secrets Stamp for Greeting
SU & GKD Inks
Sizzix Holiday Greens Die

Power Poppy - Winter Blooms Challenge

Dear Ones~
This is my second post today. It has been quite some time since I have entered any challenges, so I thought I would try and rectify that. This one is for the Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge. Here's what the talented Stacey Morgan has to say about this month's challenge:
“When winter comes, many of us long to say goodbye to the chill and say hello to those cheerful and fresh spring flowers! Did you know there are lots of blooms that sprout at the end of winter? How about Camellias, Crocus, Paperwhites, Holly, Snowdrops, or Poinsettias? Let’s see how you can bring these pretty little petals and glorious greens to life and enjoy this last bit of winter as well!”

Here is my card:
I chose the Power Poppy stamp set Springtime Love for this card. I really love the greeting that comes in that set - a quote by Wordworth. It makes me smile. This image was stamped on bristol and colored with Zigs. Just a little image, but I think it's sweet.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD In the Navy and Ivory Card Stock
My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Patterned Paper
Darice Basket Weave EF
Power Poppy Springtime Love Stamps
SU Night of Navy Ink
SU Layering Ovals Dies
Zig Clean Color Markers

That's it for me, thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments.

Mod Squad Challenge - Anything but Christmas

Dear Ones~
This week it's my turn to host the Mod Squad Challenge. It's the first challenge of the new year, and the first challenge using our new website with WordPress. We hope you like the new format.

Our sponsor for the first Wednesday of every month is
Gina K Designs.

 Gina K Designs Craft store

Gina K Designs is a free online community featuring card making, stamping techniques and project videos for paper crafters showcasing stamps by Gina K. Designs. Be sure to check out StampTV for a ton of great videos and techniques. They also have weekly challenges. Shop Gina K Designs.
A $20 gift certificate to the Gina K Designs store.

My challenge is to make anything but a Christmas card or project. I'm kinda thinking we are all tired of making Christmas cards. So this pretty much gives you carte blanche with whatever you want to make.

Here's my card:

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card. I thought this beautiful rose stamp from the Frame and Flowers 2 set was perfect. This is a multi-step stamp set which was part of the GKD Flowers and Frames Kit. It's now available as just the stamp set. This set has companion dies.....love that. The frame is also part of the set and has it's companion die as well.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White, Black Onyx & Red Hot Card Stock
Gold Mirror Foil Card Stock
Paper Studio Embossing Folder (sorry, I don't know the name)
GKD Frame & Flowers 2 Stamp Set
GKD Dogwood and Butterfly Stamp Set for greeting
GKD Inks In:
*Red Hot
*Cherry Red
*Cranberry Tart
*Grass Green
*Fresh Asparagus
Spellbinders Flourish Die
