Double D - WATER RELATED

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D the challenge is anything WATER RELATED. Lots of possibilities with this one. Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:

 Here's my card:

I was hard put to come up with something for this one. I really don't have much in the way of water-related images. But then I remembered I had this fabulous stamp by Designs by Ryn. It's so fun to use and with a little tweeking with some white gel pen the drops look pretty realistic. That moth is from the Tim Holtz Funky Insects die set. Another of my favorites. The background is a stencil called Paint Splatter by Lawn Fawn.

A close up of the bug. I think it's a moth of some sort, and I added an extra layer of vellum for the wings. Love doing that.

The Ingredients:
GKD White Card Stock
Scrapbook.com Cools Card Stock Pad
Lawn Fawn Paint Splatter Background Stencil
SU Pool Party & Marina Mist Inks
Designs by Ryn Water Droplets Stamp

Double D - Cute Little Animals

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D we are looking for CUTE LITTLE ANIMALS. How fun is that!?!?! Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration - so stinkin' ADORABLE:
This is my card:
Aren't these little guys just the cutest? They are an old set from Close to my Heart. Have you heard the news? CTMH is closing shop. How sad that a big presence in the industry is closing its doors. I colored these little guys with my Karin markers. I'm not really happy with the coloring because I used the wrong card stock for this medium, but I was too lazy to stamp them again. How's THAT for true confessions....lol. I know YOU have never done anything like that. This is a mini slimline card. LOVE making those.

The Ingredients:
GKD White and Black Onyx Card Stock
Memory Box Madras Plaid Patterned Paper
CTMH Punny Pals Stamp Set
Master Layouts 7 and 4
Karin Brush Maker Pro
Stampin Up Linen Thread

If you head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and play along, you could win this absolutely adorable stamp set. I just love it!!!  Also, don't forget to check out all the beautiful cards the other designers have created.

Can You Handle the Pressure - Birds

 Dear Ones~
There's a new challenge over at Can You Handle the Pressure.   For this challenge blog you MUST use an EMBOSSING FOLDER on your project.  Heat embossing (with embossing powder) is permitted but only IN ADDITION to your embossing folder design.  Each new challenge will have a 'TWIST' which is optional ... your choice to use or not.

The OPTIONAL TWIST for today's challenge is:

BIRDS

 Here's my sample:

I had  lot of fun making this card. It's called a Faux Shutter Card or Fracture Card. I learned about it from this YouTube video HERE.  I thought it would be fun to dry emboss 4 different colors of pastel card stock with 4 different embossing folders. Since the papers were plain, I chose to use a gold patterned paper for the thin strips. That sweet dove is a new little die from Simon Says Stamp. It has several different pieces, but one die plate, so you can cut all the pieces at once. I like that.

I cut the pieces out of a cream color card stock and sponged each piece with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The Ingredients:
Park Lane Pastel Card Stock
DCWV Preserved Paper Patterned Paper

Sizzix Pinwheel Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Mini Every Day Sentiments Hot Foil Plate

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D the challenge is HEARTFELT. What a great challenge for this time of year. Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:

 And here's my card:
I love white and gold together, I think it's so elegant. The Heartbeat die set from Tim Holtz was speaking to me for this challenge. I die cut the "heartbeat" from the set 4 times, popped up that top panel with the heart cut out, and then overlaid the heartbeat die cut on it. The dimension is pretty cool in real life. Below is a better view

The Ingredients:
GKD Heavy White Card Stock
Stash Gold Metallic Card Stock

SU Be Mine Framelits

BIRTHDAYS
 Here's my card:
I really like this die set by Honey Bee, there are so many possibilities with it.  Using all the colors of card stock was great fun. This is for my brother-in-law, who is an avid fisherman, I hope he likes it. I borrowed the design from an artist on Pinterest. Try as I might, I could not find the post again. I feel bad about that, but just know this is not my original design. I love that Tim Holtz Tree Ring embossing folder and I think it is a perfect backdrop for the vintage lures. Getting that linen thread to hang from the branch was a chore, I had to hold my mouth just right to get it done. ;-)

 The Ingredients:
GKD Ivory, Red Hot and Kraft Card Stock
Tim Holtz Tree Rings Embossing Folder
Honey Bee Vintage Lures Die Set
Assorted Colored Card Stock
SU Itty Bitty Birthday Wishes
SU Seasonal Layers Die for Branch
SU Linen Thread

Double D - Sparkle and/or Shine

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D the challenge is SPARKLE AND/OR SHINE. What a great challenge for this time of year. Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:
And here is my card:
This doesn't really reflect anything on the Mood Board, but it certainly does shine. As we all know, shiny stuff is hard to capture with a camera, but the background on this card is a Sweet Mango and white checkerboard. The Sweet Mango is done with GKD foil and it's REALLY shiny. I don't remember where I got the checkerboard pattern, but I copied it with my laser printer and then used my GKD Fuse Foiling System. The golf bag is from the GKD Hole in One stamp set. I think it might be retired. I paperpieced all the various elements to get the color.
This was made for our son-in-law, whose birthday is coming up. He's an avid golfer and also a VERY avid Tennessee Volunteers fan. The team colors are orange and white and the checkerboard is on their logo. I had great fun making this card for him!!!

The Ingredients:
Recollections Gray Card Stock
GKD Sweet Mango and White Card Stock
GKD Sweet Mango  Foil
Echo Park Buffalo Plaid Embossing Folder
GKD Hole in One Stamp Set and Companion Die
SU Inked and Tiled Stamp for Greeting
SU Ornate Frames Thinlits

If you head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and play along, you could win this absolutely fabulous pad of glittery paper. What a wonderful prize!!!  Also, don't forget to check out all the beautiful cards the other designers have created.
