COLOR HUES - PURPLE and TEAL

Dear Ones~
I'm so happy to be able to play along with the Color Hues Challenge again. This time the colors are purple and teal, one of my very favorite color combinations.

Here is my card:
I needed to make a thank you card, and turns out the color challenge was just the right colors for the card I had made. I received a gift of several things from a fellow crafter who happens to live in France. I was delighted to use them on this card. Some, if not all of them, are French. I used Distress Oxides with the smooshing technique on a piece of watercolor paper and, with the beautiful result, die cut the butterfly twice and also the little hearts. The silver embossed square behind the butterfly is part of a sweet little stamp set. I layered it onto a piece of silver card stock using a square scalloped die. The blue background is embossed using an embossing folder that she sent me.

 The Ingredients:
Recollections Very Violet and Ocean Card Stock
Tim Holtz Silver Metallic Kraft Card Stock
Distress Oxides In:
*Wilted Violet
*Shaded Lilac
*Seedless Preserves
Scrap-Pláisir Butterfly Die (told you it was French)
Unknown Heart Embossing Folder
Unknown Square Stamp
GKD Silver Embossing Powder
SU Ornate Thanks Stamp for Greeting
Trinity Stamps Silver Baubles

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Our leaves are finally out and I have cut some lilacs to perfume the house. They are so lovely.

Until next time, here's celebrating your Creative Muse.
Hugs,

Make the Cards Challenge - Beach

 Dear Ones~

Today's offering has been created for the Make the Cards Challenge Blog. My dear BFF Donna (go check out her blog - she is ÜBER TALENTED) is guest designing this week, so I just had to play along. The theme is BEACH.  Here's what I came up with:
I usually don't do "beach" themed cards. I can't really relate, since I live in Northern Michigan where we only have woods and rivers, with the occasional lake thrown in. But I do have this fabulous Chambered Nautilus stamp by Gina K Designs. I think it's a fine example of something you would find at the beach. I took a piece of watercolor paper, wet it down well, and then used Distress Inks and a paint brush to create the background color. I stamped the Nautilus on watercolor paper with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and used my paint brush to spread the color around. Then I went to town with the dies from Stampin' Up's Sea of Textures. I love that fishnet die. Final touch are those Trinity Stamps Bubble Blow Out baubles.
I think they look like bubbles and I love the effect.

The Ingredients:
Recollections Kraft Card Stock
Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection Card Stock
Canson Watercolor Paper
Distress Inks In:
*Salty Ocean
*Chipped Sapphire
*Shabby Shudders
*Walnut Stain
GKD By the Sea 2 Stamp Set
SU Sea of Textures Die Set
SU Very Versailles Stamp for Greeting

It was fun to make a card that's a little out of my comfort zone. Swing on over to Make the Cards Challenge and see what the fabulous designers have done. There's a new challenge up every week, so never a dull moment.

Thanks for stopping by, I love to read all your wonderful comments. Stay well, and until next time, Here's Celebrating Your Creative Muse!

Hugs,

MOD SQUAD CHALLENGE - FEELING BOOKISH

  Dear Ones~

I am once again hosting over at the Mod Squad Challenge Blog. This time we are using a page from an old book, or the like. It can be a book, a magazine, a newspaper or even a phone book page. But it must contain the written word.

 SPONSOR

                                             SHOP GINA K DESIGNS

Gina K. has been in the stamping industry since 1998 and started Gina K. Designs in 2007. As the business grew, Gina asked her husband Tom to leave his position as an attorney to join her in the business. Together they built StampTV, an online video website featuring broadcast quality paper crafting videos, galleries, a social network for paper crafters and more! Since then they have created a new website called Gina K Designs. Gina now has over 200,000 followers over her various social media networks and video sites from all around the world. Gina’s goal is to continue to offer top quality signature products through her online store Gina K. Designs, along with informative and creative crafting videos. There is also a monthly card challenge, where you have 3 chances to win a $25 gift certificate. Visit that HERE.

PRIZE

A $20 gift certificate to the Gina K Designs store.

Here is my sample:
I began by sponging and crinkling a page from an old book. Gina K recently did a Stamp and Chat video showing this fun technique. You can see it HERE.  I used GKD inks in Kraft, Warm Cocoa and Dark Chocolate. I used the GKD Master Layouts 1 rectangles to cut the three panels in Dark Chocolate Card Stock and also the altered book page and layered them together. These were mounted on a piece of GKD Sandy Beach Card Stock, which was attached to my GKD Dark Chocolate Base. The moth is from the GKD Beautiful Wings Stamp Set by Melanie Muenchinger. It was stamped on GKD Sandy Beach Card Stock, sponged with GKD Kraft Ink, colored with Prismacolor Pencils, and cut out with the Beautiful Wings Companion Die. The greeting is from the GKD Birthday Blessings Stamp Set. It is stamped in GKD Dark Chocolate Ink. For a final touch I attached some Trinity Stamps Fortune Teller baubles.

Here is a close up of the baubles, I think they really make this card.  I really encourage you to go watch Gina's video on how to do the old book page technique. It's really fun!
