Double D - Anything with a Heart

 Dear Ones~

This is the third day in a row where we have had sunshine all day long. It's the first time since maybe early November. Gotta love Michigan weather. Today over at Double D our new challenge is to make anything with a heart. Here is our Mood Board:

And this is my card:

I was inspired by the photo on the top left. So I brought out my wood grain embossing folder and went to town. This card is for our son for Valentine's Day. Those hearts are a die from Stampin' Up. It cuts the heart shapes and also those little thin lines around them. So I cut them in black and inlaid in the openings. The red hearts show through from the red layer of card stock below. I really love that die. I sponged the wood grain embossing with a little Warm Cocoa Ink for dimension. The black heart is a die from the GKD A Little Love Layering Stencil Bundle. It was cut 4 times and layered up with some gold twine stitched in the middle.

The Ingredients:
GKD Kraft, Black Onyx and Red Velvet Card Stock
Tim Holtz Lumber Embossing Folder
SU Many Hearts Die Set
GKD A Little Love Layering Stencil Bundle
GKD Black Embossing Powder
GKD Warm Cocoa Ink

If you head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and play along, you could win this adorable die. I just love it!!  And don't forget to check out all the beautiful cards the other designers have created for your inspiration.

Color Hues - Red and Pink

Dear Ones~

I have some time right now, so I was excited to be able to play along with the Color Hues Color Challenge. This time the colors are RED and PINK. Now let's just get this out of the way right here. I am NOT a fan of this color combination.....lol. But that's okay, I love a challenge.

Here is what I came up with:

I was going through a bunch of stuff and came across this piece of vellum that I had inked up with some alcohol inks. Don't even know the colors, but there is some Guilded Alloy in there, as well as some really shiny pearl effects. Why is it so hard to capture glitz and glimmer in a photo? It's so stinkin' pretty IRL.  There is a heart die in the Stampin' Up Many Hearts die set that has a pierced border, so I thought it would be fun to use some gold thread and stitch around it.

Here is a closer look.

And The Ingredients Are:

Recollections Rose Petal Card Stock

GKD Black Onyx and White Card Stock

GKD Cranberry Tart Card Stock

Stash Vellum

GKD Master Layouts 4 Die

SU Many Hearts Dies

GKD Seasons of Joy Stamp & Die Set

Gold Thread

So Himself and I have received our second Covid Vaccination, with no real issues. I feel so blessed to have been able to get the shots so soon. We were just in the right place at the right time. I trust you all are staying safe, dear readers, and I hope you will be vaccinated soon if you aren't already. Hopefully there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate all your lovely comments, they always make me smile!!

Until next time, here's celebrating your creative muse.

There is also a monthly card challenge, where you have 3 chances to win a $25 gift certificate. Visit that HERE.

PRIZE

A $20 gift certificate to the Gina K Designs store.

Here is my sample:

I began by stamping the GKD background stamp Diagonal Stripes with GKD Obsidian Amalgam Ink on GKD White Card Stock. On another white panel I stenciled the background behind the floral spray in GKD Slate Ink with the GKD Festive Stencil. Then I applied Iridescent Glitz Glitter Gel to the GKD Sun Spots Stencil over top of that for some interest. The florals and LOVE die are all from the GKD A Little Love Layering Stencil Bundle. GKD Inks used for the stenciled flowers and leaves are Red Velvet, Cherry Red, Red Hot, Jelly Bean Green, Grass Green and Christmas Pine. The whole panel was mounted on the striped background and then onto some GKD Black Onyx Card Stock

Here's a closer look at that background. I love how it turned out with the Glitz Glitter Gel. And that Slate Ink is such a beautiful color. A touch of red on the leaves adds interest.

Glad you stopped by, and don't forget to head on over to The Mod Squad Challenge Blog and play along. You could win the prize! I can't wait to see your wonderful creations, and I adore your comments.

I hope you all are well and staying away from others as much as possible. These are strange times, aren't we glad we have our craft to keep us sane?

Until next time, here's celebrating your Creative Muse.
