Double D - Lots of WHITE

 Dear Ones~
I LOVE the challenge this time over at Double D. Lots of WHITE!!! One of my favorite looks. Here is the  gorgeous Mood Board for our inspiration:
And here's my card:
I can't really take credit for the design on this card. Sadly I don't remember where I saw it or who the designer was, but I LOVE the thought behind this for a Christmas card. That embossed background is so stunning, and I have been waiting to use this globe die from Stampin' Up. I computer generated the greeting and then hot foiled it in gold. The photo does not do the shine justice for sure.

 The Ingredients:
GKD White Heavy Base Weight Card Stock
SU Filigree Snowflake Embossing Folder
SU Beautiful World Die Set for Globe
Tim Holtz Gold Metallic Card Stock
SU Layered Oval Dies
Computer Generated Greeting and Gold Foiled
Tim Holtz Bow Punch

If you head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and play along, you could win this adorable Snowman Die set from Impression Obsession, and don't forget to check out all the beautiful cards the other designers have created for your inspiration.

Won't be long now before the Jolly Old Elf will be making his way across the world with his bag full of goodies. Hope this holiday season finds you remembering the reason for the season. I'm so glad you stopped by, and thank you for all your sweet comments. You are too kind!!!  Don't forget to head on over to Double D to see what's going on.

Mod Squad - Just Snowflakes

Dear Ones~
This time over at The Mod Squad Challenge we are doing JUST SNOWFLAKES.  You MUST include only snowflakes and nothing else on your card front or your entry will be eliminated so as not to skew the random drawing. You may include a greeting, but snowflakes MUST be your complete focal.

PRIZE

A $20 gift certificate to the Gina K Designs store.

Here's my card:

For this card I used the GKD stamp set Sparkling Snowflakes. I blended the background with GKD Inks In the Navy, Blue Raspberry and Wild Wisteria, and then took some GKD Watermark and Embossing Ink to stamp some of the snowflake images from the stamp set for a tone on tone look. That gave me the background. I made a “stamp pad” with paper towel and poured some bleach on it to use as “ink”. I then took some of the snowflake stamps, dipped them in the bleach, and stamped on the blended background. I was amazed at how well the bleach brought the snowflake images back to white. I think it has kind of a batik look. The die cut snowflake is from the GKD Snowflake Trio Die set, cut 4 times and layered together. The greeting is also from the Sparkling Snowflakes stamp set. It was heat embossed with GKD White Fine Detail Embossing Powder. Card stocks used are GKD White Heavy Base Weight and Powder Blue. Panels were cut with Master Layouts 7 Die Set.

Double D - Trees

Dear Ones~

I LOVE trees, all kinds of trees, so I was overjoyed to see our challenge this time over at Double D. It's TREES!! Here is the Mood Board for our inspiration:

And here's what I came up with:

I took a little poetic license with the Mood Board and picked up on that gorgeous flaming red to use as a background for this card.  It's blended with 4 different colors and I love the effect. Sadly, I was in need of a sympathy card, so I kept the design pretty simple. I took a piece of card stock and ink blended over the whole panel. Then I cut the oval in another panel, ran it through an embossing folder for some texture, and attached the ink-blended panel on the backside so it showed through the oval. I love the look of the silhouetted trees.

 The Ingredients:
GKD Whisper and Black Onyx Card Stock
SU Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy Ink
GKD Blue Denim Ink
SU Nesting Oval Die
SU Old World Paper Embossing Folder
SU Tree Dies
SU Heal Your Heart Stamp for Greeting

After I stenciled the background I used a portion of the poinsettia stamp set to stamp over the stenciling with GKD Watermark and Embossing Ink, and then heat embossed with Fine Detail Silver Embossing Powder. After placing the white card stock in the folder I ran it through my die cutting machine and this is the result. The quote for the greeting was computer generated, I have always thought it to be very profound. Thanks, Ralph!!!!

This is a fun challenge blog that changes every week, and there is always something new or different to create.  Our challenge this week is a color challenge, and here is the color:
I love this color, and it's so great for fall. Here is what I did with it:
I have a FABULOUS die set from Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club called Kaleidoscope Tile. It's a multi-layer set which really gives a wonderful 3D effect. I chose 3 colors for the layers with the challenge color being the predominant, and die cut each element 4 times and then placed them in this pattern. I used a Darice Basket Weave embossing folder for the background and a Tim Holtz Shadow Script die for the greeting. Some gold satin baubles from Trinity Stamps, along with some tiny feathers cut with a Poppy Stamps die set and colored with GKD Fresh Asparagus Ink finished off the look.

The Ingredients:
GKD Fresh Asparagus, Warm Cocoa, Dark Chocolate and Kraft Card Stock
PTI Rustic Cream Card Stock
Spellbinders Hex Kaleidoscope Tile Die Set
Tim Holtz Shadow Script Die for Greeting
Poppy Stamps Tiny Feathers Die Set

Double D - Sunflowers

Dear Ones~
Happy fall, y'all!!! The challenge this time over at Double D is SUNFLOWERS!!! Here's the Mood Board for our inspiration:

Aren't those photos GORGEOUS!!! The colors are amazing!! Here's my take:

I stamped that gorgeous sunflower from Gina K Designs called Thankful Heart, illustrated by Hannah Schroepfer Drapinski, on Bristol, colored it with my Zigs, and then I cropped it to use only part of the image. I added a black mat and was laying it on the card base to see what kind of patterned paper and such I wanted to use, and I thought wow, it looks pretty just like that. I think it really makes the image pop and I love the clean and simple look. The Greeting is from that same stamp set.

 The Ingredients:
GKD White Heavy Weight Card Stock
GKD Black Onyx Card Stock
Strathmore Bristol Paper
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
GKD Obsidian Amalgam Ink
Trinity Stamps Baubles

If you head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and play along, you could win this adorable sunflower stencil from The Crafters Workshop, and don't forget to check out all the beautiful cards the other designers have created for your inspiration.

Double D - Leaves

Dear Ones~ There's a new challenge up over at Double D and this time the theme is LEAVES. Here's the Mood Board for our inspiration:

And here's my card:

I found a really cool technique by Ann Melvin on YouTube the other day where you use paper towel to die cut your shapes and then use watercolor to color them. You can catch her video HERE. It was so much fun to do and I want to do more. I used leaf dies from a couple of different companies and colored the shapes with my Mission Gold Watercolors. The possibilities are endless. You can also do it with paper napkins, as Dave has done HERE. To finish the card off I dyed the ribbon with GKD Tranquil Teal Ink and splattered the whole thing with some Fine Tech Gold Watercolor.

 The Ingredients:
GKD White and Tranquil Teal Card Stock
SU Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder
Altenew Leaf Mix Die Set
Frantic Stampers Assorted Foliage Die Set
Creative Expressions Be Unique Die by Sue Wilson
