Double D - Let It Snow

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D the theme is LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW. How appropriate, it's snowing as I write this. Not sure I'm happy about it either....lol.

Here is the Mood Board provided for our inspiration:

And here's what I created:

I recently watched THIS video by Tina Zink called Emboss Resist Spotlight. It looked like so much fun I had to try it. It was easy to do, but I think the results are FABULOUS. Here I used a stamp set by Stampin' Up called Snow is Glistening, and GKD Tranquil Teal Ink. I attached some sequins and filled them with  Crystal Stickles for a sparkly accent.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Heavy Weight Card Stock
Stampin' Up Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set
GKD Tranquil Teal Ink
GKD Fine Detail Embossing Powder
Sequins and Stickles

I invite you to hop on over to Double D Challenges and see what the other designers have created. And if you play along, you could win this awesome die.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are having a great week. Christmas is right around the corner now. I hope you aren't so busy that you can't enjoy the fun and fellowship of the season. Don't forget to swing by Double D and check us out.  Oh, and I so appreciate your lovely comments!!!

Double D - Run, Run Rudolph

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D we are using DEER on our card. Any kind of deer will do, it does not have to be Christmas. Here is the Mood Board provided for our inspiration:

And here is my card:

This card has several layers. The background was done by inking up a Stampin' Up embossing folder with a couple of different colors of Distress Ink and running it through my Big Shot. Then I die cut the oval with the Memory Box Woodland Oval die and mounted it over the dry embossed background with Fun Foam for more dimension. It has trees inside the oval, very pretty. Finally I die cut the deer from Dee's Distinctive Deer dies and layered them on top. I love the white on white look with the color in the background.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Heavy Weight Card
SU Woodland Texture Embossing Folder
Chipped Sapphire and Dusty Concord Distress Inks
Memory Box Woodland Oval Die
Dee's Distinctive Deer 1 & 2 Dies

You really should hop on over to Double D Challenges and see what the other designers have created. And if you play along, you could win this awesome die set.

Mod Squad Challenge - Modern Grid

Dear Ones~
It's my turn to host again over at the Mod Squad Challenge. I have chosen to do a Modern Grid. This technique is very easy. First, create an image on your cardstock panel. Then with a ruler, draw grid lines, skipping over the focal image. This makes the focal look as if it is popped up against the background grid. After you have drawn your grid you can decorate the squares any way you like.

STV - Square Up

Dear Ones~
This sweet little card has been created for the November Release Challenge over at Stamp TV. Gina has challenged us to make a square card. One of my favorite things to do.

Here's what I created:
I just love this cute little 4 1/2 square card. I used Warm Cocoa card stock and ink, and found that sweet little gingerbread man button in my stash. I used the Wreath Builder Stencil and the stamp set by Claire Brennan called Nordic Winter. So much fun to make this card.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Warm Cocoa and Sandy Beach Card Stock
PTI Rustic Cream Card Stock
GKD Warm Cocoa Ink
Spellbinders Scalloped Square Die
GKD Nordic Winter Stamp Set
GKD Wreath Builder Stencil
Stash Gingerbread Man Button
Stash Twine
Judy Dots

Well, most of the leaves have fallen from the trees and Daylight Savings Time is about to end, so it will be getting dark about 6 pm. Time to settle in for winter and enjoy playing in my craft room. Hope you can find some time to do that too. And maybe make a grilled cheese sandwich to go with a cup of tomato soup.

Thanks for stopping by, I always adore your wonderful comments.

Potpourri Beauty

Dear Ones~

It has been quite some time since I have chatted with you. We went camping, got weathered out, and I hurt my knee. But it's all good...knee is healing and I finally feel like I can go about my business again without the use of a cane and copious amounts of Ibuprofen. Life is good.

This project has been created for the Stamp TV October Monthly Mix Challenge, or MMC. Karen is our host this month, and she has challenged us to make anything but a card.

Here's what I came up with:

I LOVE to make 3-D objects with paper. I found the video for this beauty by Josephine at Studio 8 HERE.  I put potpourri inside before I hot glued it together, so it smells WONDERFUL!! I started by cutting my white card stock to size and then stamping a background patterned paper with Lisa Hetrick's stamp set called Something Good in Every Day. Then I followed Josephine's instructions to make the ball. Embellies are just some silk flowers from my stash and some punched leaves from a Martha Stewart Punch.

Here is another version. This was the first one I made for practice. It's addictive, I tell ya!!! And surprisingly simple. It's the scoring that creates all the facets.

And the Ingredients:
GKD White Card Stock
GKD Grass Green Card Stock
GKD Something Good in Every Day Set
GKD Inks in:
*Dark Chocolate
*Dusty Rose
*Grass Green
Martha Stewart Leaf Punch

So that's it for me today.  I have just taken an apple pie out of the oven. We have had an over abundance of apples from our 5 trees this year, so our time has been spent making applesauce, apple jelly and slicing and freezing some for pies and crisps this winter. Himself does a lot of it along with me. I like that. Thanks for stopping by, dear reader. The air is getting more crisp and the daylight less and less. Time to hunker and stay warm. I appreciate your lovely comments, they always make me smile.

Double D - Stripes and Dots

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D we are playing with Stripes and Dots. Here is the Mood Board created for your inspiration:

And here is my card:
This card came together really quickly. I just used a few daisy punches to punch out some shapes and layer them together. The patterned paper pack I used had only dots and stripes, so it was easy to pick the papers I wanted. The background is a Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I thought it went well with the dots theme. I have recently starting trying to use the Color Wheel to pick colors for my cards. It really does make a difference in the way the card pops. I tend to be "matchy/matchy" so this is a revelation to me.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Card Stock
Core' dinations Dots and Stripes Patterned Paper
Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles EF
Stash Daisy Punches
Stash Polka Dot Ribbon
Stash Pearls

You really should hop on over to Double D Challenges and see what the other designers have created. And if you play along, you could win this awesome embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are having a great week. I cannot BELIEVE it's the middle of October and almost Halloween! Don't forget to swing by Double D and check us out.  Oh, and I so appreciate your lovely comments!!!

I used GKD Coral Reef, Plum Punch and Key Lime Inks to stamp. The card stock is GKD Coral Reef, Key Lime, Heavy Weight White,  and Plum Punch. The little tag is from the GKD Decorative Tags die set, and the greeting is from the GKD Cottage Garden Stamp Set. The background was embossed with a 3D embossing folder by Memory Keepers called Woven.

Double D - Scare-in up Some Pumpkins

Dear Ones~
Today over at Double D we are SCARING UP SOME PUMPKINS! We must use pumpkins and/or scarecrows on our card. Isn't this a cute Mood Board? So much inspiration for us!

And here is my card:
Sadly, I have NO scarecrow images of any kind, anywhere. I am not happy because I LOVE them. I will have to keep my eyes open for something to rectify that. So....I had to go with pumpkins. I am in LOVE with Gina K's Wreath Builder Template, it's simply addictive! And her new companion stamps for fall are the BOMB!!! Here I stamped the images onto some patterned paper. I don't do that very often and I really love the effect. After I stamped everything I added the ribbon and some pine fronds from a Martha Stewart punch.

 Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Fresh Asparagus Card
SU Cajun Craze Card
Paper Studio Olivia's Sweet Shop PP
GKD Autumn Wreath Builder
GKD Holiday Frames Stamp
GKD Tangerine Twist Ink
SU Always Artichoke Ink
SU Cajun Craze Ink

I would encourage you to hop on over to Double D Challenges and see what the other designers have created. And if you play along, you could win this cute die set.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are having a great week. Fall is in the air, there's no denying it!! Don't forget to swing by Double D and check us out.  Oh, and I so appreciate your lovely comments!!!

STV Emerging Image

Dear Ones~
Well, things have settled down here at the 'ole homestead after coming back early from our camping trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  The weather chased us out before we could experience the beautiful color that Michigan's autumn season brings. The trees haven't turned yet, but the temperatures sure did. So now I have some time to play in the Release Party Challenge over at STV. The challenge is to use heat embossing and sponging to bring out an image. You can watch Gina's technique HERE.

This is what I came up with:
This was a fast and easy card. Thanks, Gina, for reminding me of this emboss resist technique. Here I used the GKD Bold and Blooming stamp set. It reminds me of Zentangle, which I LOVE to do. I used Innocent Pink and Dusty Rose, sponging it on after heat embossing Ivory Card Stock with clear embossing powder.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Ivory Card Stock
SU Flirty Flamingo Card Stock
GKD Bold and Blooming Stamp Set
GKD Cottage Garden Stamp Set for Greeting
GKD Dusty Rose and Innocent Pink Ink
Fiskars Lace Corner Punch
SU Balloon Pop Up Thinlits for Bow
Stash Clear Embossing Powder
Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder for Greeting
Stash Pearls.

Thanks for stopping by. My hubby is out picking apples from our 5 trees. I see some applesauce in our future. Oh, and I so appreciate your comments, they make me smile.

Hugs,

And here is my card for you:
I really don't have any shoe stamps, but I did find this cute little garden boot from Simon Says Stamp. It's part of one of their monthly stamp kits, I forget which one. The name of the stamp set is Showers and Flowers. I am such a fan of yellow and navy together, so I thought I would get out my water colors and paint those little boots a bright yellow. The blue background has been embossed with the Stampin' Up Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder. I think the polka dotted ribbon really fits well with the look of the card.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White and Blue Denim Card Stock
Recollections Petite Floral PP

Double D - Popping a Wheelie

Dear Ones~
I trust you had a good holiday weekend and stayed safe. This time over at Double D we are playing with WHEELS. Anything with wheels will do. Here is the Mood Board provided for your inspiration:

This is what I came up with:
I have had this cute little wheelbarrow full of flowers image for a long time. It's a very old Gina K Mini Stamp set. It probably has been long since retired. Anyway, my eye went right to the cute wooden wheelbarrow in the Mood Board and I thought of this stamp. I used GKD Faded Brick card stock and stamped and heat embossed the image with Brown Sugar Embossing Powder, made a mask of the image and then stamped the diamond shape from Altenew Geo Frames over the mask. This was also heat embossed and then the whole thing was fussy cut. Then I painted the flowers with bleach and when it was dry I colored them with colored pencils. I stamped the image again on some GKD Grateful Heart Patterned Paper and fussy cut the bed of the wheelbarrow.  The background was textured with a Stampin' Up Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Kraft and Faded Brick Card Stock
GKD Thanks a Bunch Stamp Set
GKD Grateful Heart Patterned Paper
Altenew Geo Frames Stamp
SU Basket WEave Dynamic Embossing Folder
Bleach
Prismacolor Pencils
Nuvo Crystal Drops

I invite you to hop on over to Double D Challenges and see what the other designers have created. And if you play along, you could win this cute die set.
