DOUBLE "D" - Shade of Purple

Dear Ones~
Jane Austen said, "What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance." How well said.....I totally agree with dear 'ole Jane!!

Today's card was made for the Double "D" Challenge. This time we are invited to use shades of purple. Just look at this wonderful set of tiles they have provided us for inspiration.

These colors are so luscious they just make my mouth water. Did I mention that purple is my favorite color?? And it's my friend Ina's favorite too. Hope you can play, Ina!!

HERE'S MY CARD
I had so much fun making this. I used Altenew's beautiful set called Peony Scrolls. I stamped the images on watercolor paper and pulled out my Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers. I haven't used them in ages, I don't know why. The colors are just beautiful, and so vibrant. The purple background piece was watercolored with Brushos.

I liberally used Wink of Stella on the flowers, hope you can see the glitter here.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Lovely Lavender and Black Onyx Card Stock
Patterned Paper from my Stash
Altenew Peony Scrolls Stamps and Dies
Cheery Lynn Designs Burlap Die Cut (thanks, Kathy!)
Crafty Secrets Stamp for Greeting
Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers
Brushos Crystal Colors
Clear Wink of Stella

So that's it for me tonight. I'm sitting in front of the fan. We don't have AC, Northern Michigan isn't supposed to get this hot....lol. Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments!!

Mod Squad Challenge - Get Krafty

Dear Ones~
This week Vicki Dutcher and I are hosting the Mod Squad Challenge. Our challenge is to use kraft on your project.

One of our sponsors is the wonderful stamp company

  https://www.kitchensinkstamps.com/shop/index.html

Kitchen Sink Stamps offers us a discount CODE: ModSquad15.
These stamps are amazing. Most have a multi-stamp feature that lets you get great detail in your images using several colors. There is real dimension with a 3-D effect! And one of the best features of this stamp company is that there are color recipes for most of the multi-step stamps, so you don't have to guess what colors to use. There are even alternative colors if you don't have the inks that are suggested. Maria from Kitchen Sink Stamps is a member of our Mod Squad Challenge Facebook Group so feel free to say Hi or ask any questions.

THE PRIZE
A $25 GIFT CERTIFICATE to the store.
You can pick your own goodies and there are lots of choices!

Here is a sample for you:
I used several Kitchen Sink stamp sets for this card. I began by using Versamark to stamp some stars from the Playful Stars Stamp Set onto a piece of kraft card stock for a watermark look. That's my background panel. I also heat embossed the stars with white and red embossing powder on another piece of card stock for another panel. The little bear is from the Multi-Step Teddy Bear Wishes set, and the hat is from Multi-Step Love 4 Ducky & Teddy. Then I finished off the greeting with the Make a Big Statement set. I also used a die cut from the Tim Holtz Scribbles and Splat die set.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Cherry Red, Kraft and White Card Stock
DCWV Red Glitter Paper
Red and White Embossing Powder
Various Memento & GKD Inks
Tim Holtz Scribbles and Splat Die
Quick Kutz Nesting Stars Die
Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to head on over to The Mod Squad Blog Challenge and play along. I can't wait to see your wonderful creations, and I adore your comments.

Make It Monday - Spritz Stamps

Dear Ones~

I have another offering for you today. It seems that I have had some time to play, and it's been a joy to make a couple of cards.

This one is for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. This week we are invited to do a technique where you ink up your stamp, spritz it with water, then stamp on watercolor paper. Or maybe some other paper......try anything and see what works.

Here's my card:

I used a Papertrey Ink stamp set called Flower Favorites. love this Lupine image. I inked it up with two colors of ink, spritzed and stamped, then inked with a darker color of ink and spritzed and stamped again. It's so much fun to see what artsy look you can get with this technique.

Here are the Ingredients:
SU Rich Razzleberry Card Stock
GKD Jellybean Green Card Stock
Strathmore Watercolor Paper
SU Inks in-
*Sweet Sugarplum
*Perfect Plum
*Flirty Flamingo
*Pear Pizzazz
*Wild Wasabi
GKD Black Onyx Ink
Craftsmith Flower Market Patterned Paper

Thanks for stopping by again, I always adore your comments. We are almost halfway through the week, and halfway through the month.  My summer is going by far too fast. We will be going North at the end of August for several weeks, no card making for me then. Whatever will I DO???

Power Poppy - Time to "B" Happy

Dear Ones~
Today's offering has been made for the July Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge. The title of the challenge is Time to "B" Happy, and we are to make a card with an image, or the like, that begins with the letter "B".
I chose Power Poppy's Spring Meadow Bouquet. It's a digital stamp, so I can crop it to just a portion of the image. As you can see on my card, I cropped it to include the "B"ee and "B"utterfly, and just some of the flowers.

 Here's my card:

This is just a 4-Bar. I thought it would make a sweet little thank you card. I colored it with my Prismas and added Stickles (which, of course, you can't see in the photo)  and Crystal Drops for embellishment.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Black Onyx and White Card Stock
SU Pacific Point Card Stock
Power Poppy Spring Meadow Bouquet Digi Stamp
Power Poppy Short Stacks Stamp Set for Greeting
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Nuvo Crystal Drops in White
Stickles

That's it for this one. I have another card to share, so stay tuned. Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments~~~

I made this card pretty simply, just stamping one of the flower images from W Plus 9's stamp set called Summer Blooms. Then I used some Nuvo Crystal Drops in black to add some embellishments, along with the Stampin' Up Papillion Potpouri butterfly stamp and matching punch. Easy peasy.

Double "D" Challenges - Simply Gingham

Dear Ones~
Whew - its H.O.T!!! Been in the high 80's and low 90's for a few days. I know it's summer, but c'mon. Northern Michigan ain't supposed to be this hot and we don't have AC. Good thing it's pretty cool in my craft room.

Today I made this cute little card for the Double D Challenge for this month. We are challenged to use gingham. How FUN!! Look at all the wonderful inspiration in this photo.

Here's my card:

I am so in love with this adorable stamp set from Verve Stamps. It's called Hip Hop Bunny. I paper pieced him, along with his bow tie. Isn't he funny??? The white lacy borders are from a Martha Stewart Punch, and the doily behind him is a PTI die called Doily Details.

Here are the Ingredients:
Verve Stamps Hip Hop Bunny Stamp
Recollections Home Basics Patterned Paper
GKD White and Black Onyx Card Stock
PTI Doily Details Die
Spellbinders Scalloped Circles Die
Copic Markers
White Nuvo Crystal Drops

Make It Monday - String Art

Dear Ones~
Seems like it's really difficult this summer to squeeze in any craft time. Between grandsons and other commitments the days just seem to fly by.
Today's offering was made for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge. This week we get to play with string. Remember the string art you used to do as a kid? Well that's what we are doing, and it's sooooo much fun!

Here's my card:
I found some variegated tatting thread that worked perfectly for this technique, and the little doily die cut from Papertrey Ink worked really well to do my stitching. I also poked some holes in the bottom corner of my background and stitched a design there too. It's addictive, I tell ya!!! The background splatters were done with a stamp from Stampin' Up and I chose colors to match the thread. They match better in real life.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White and Blue Denim Card stock
PTI Doily Details Die
PTI Botanical Silhouettes Stamp for Greeting
SU Awesomely Artistic Splatter Stamp
SU Inks In:
*Dapper Denim
*Flirty Flamingo
*Pool Party
*Peekaboo Peach
Stash Tatting Thread
This is another one I made. Here I used GKD gold cord to do the stitching, and then splattered watered down glue on the black card stock and sprinkled it with glitter. It's really sparkly IRL.

Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments. I hope you all have a fantastic week and are enjoying these beautiful summer days. And for those of you who are in the dead of winter, stay warm!!!

Just Us Girls #351 - Trend Week

 Dear Ones~
It's TREND WEEK over at Just Us Girls, and our host, Vicki, has chosen SPONGING as our trend.

Here is my Sample:
I used some Distress Inks, masked off the bottom half of the card base and sponged the top half. Then I stamped the Designs by Ryn Water Droplets stamp over the sponging. I painted the droplets with clean water and then blotted with a paper towel. It lifts some of the ink off so that the drops look more transparent. Pretty cool, huh?? This is a tip that Ryn shared in this VIDEO. A little touch of white with a gel pen on each drop gives them the appearance of shine. Then I scored some lines below the sponging to finish the look.
Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Heavy Base Weight Card Stock
Distress Inks in-
*Candied Apple
*Abandoned Coral
*Wilted Violet
*Fossilized Amber
Designs by Ryn Water Droplets Stamp
Great Impressions Stamp for Greeting
Stampin' Up and Martha Stewart Butterfly Punches
Signo White Gel Pen

I will be entering this in the Designs by Ryn July Challenge.

Please visit the JUST US GIRLS blog to see the wonderful cards that our July Guest Designer, Carol, and the rest of the team have made this week. And remember, if you win Chic of the Week in any of our July challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of September (wow, September already???)!!   I hope to see you there.
Good luck, and thanks for stopping by!!

Just Us Girls #350 - Word Week

Dear Ones~

This week is WORD WEEK over at Just Us Girls, and our host Maria has chosen the word SUMMER. Pretty appropriate, right?? I would like to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of July - Carol Mayne. She is over-the-top talented. Please visit her blog and check out her amazing work HERE. Carol likes white backgrounds, very rarely if ever using patterned paper. That's difficult for me.

This is my Sample for our word SUMMER:
I took an image from an older GKD StampTV Kit called Sunkissed Autumn. I thought it would be fun to make this sweet little gal look like she was holding the sun by a string like a balloon. I paper pieced her dress and I think it looks really cool with this particular patterned paper.

Here are the Ingredients:
PTI Hawaiian Shores Card Stock
GKD Red Hot and White Card Stock
GKD Sunkissed Autumn Stamp Set
GKD Triple Play Stamp Set
Colorbok Beach House Patterned Paper
GKD Hello Sunshine Stamp Set for Greeting
Martha Stewart Flower Punch

Please visit the JUST US GIRLS blog to see the wonderful cards that our July Guest Designer, Carol, and the rest of the team have made this week.
And remember, if you win Chic of the Week in any of our July challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of September (wow, September already???)!!   I hope to see you there.
Good luck, and thanks for stopping by!!
