Oh My Stars

Dear Ones~
Hello from rainy Michigan. it only got up to 53 today, but the grass is growing like crazy from all the rain we have been having. Sure am thankful that we don't live in Texas right now. Thinking of all my dear friends who call that state home.

Today's offering has been made for the StampTV Monday Challenge. My very dear and over-the-top-talented friend, Barb Campbell, is hosting this week. Check out her blog here. You will love her work. In her challenge she has asked us to make a card with red, white, and blue, using any or all of the colors, and to include a star somewhere on the front. Also entering into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, Anything Goes, and The Mod Squad Challenge, hosted by my dear friend Joyce Erb, to do a masculine card.

Here's what I came up with:

Morocco

Dear Ones~
I just got done picking some wild lilacs that grow down the road from us. The living room smells heavenly!!

Today's offering was made for the Just Us Girls Challenge. This week it's a photo for inspiration.

Here's my card:

When I saw the photo I immediately thought of this die from Spellbinders called Medallion One. The rug in the photo reminded me of a Moroccan Bazaar, so I used the Spellbinders Label 9 dies for the shape. Truth be told I really don't like this card, I think it's boring. But there you just are. You can't win them all, right? The fillagree background is done with a die called Mixed Media by Sizzix. I love that set.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Turquoise Sea, White and Tomato Soup Card Stock
GKD Birthday Blessings Stamp Set for Greeting
Spellbinders Labels 9 Die Set
Spellbinders Medallion One Shapabilities
Sizzix Mixed Media Die Set
GKD Turquoise Sea Ink

Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments. And happy Memorial Day! Thank you to those who paid the ultimate price for us - there are no words!!!!!

Watercolor Stamping

Dear Ones~
Another quick post today. This card was made for the StampTV MIUM Challenge, hosted this week by my super talented friend, Joyce Erb. She challenged us to use something in our stash we have never used before.

Here is my card:
I "had to have" these beautiful Tim Holtz Distress Stains. Love the colors. And like so many of us, after I got them, they sat on the shelf for awhile and I forgot what I got them for. I still don't remember....haha. Then I recently watched a video over at Split Coast Stampers where the stains were used as ink on a stamp. Cool!!! I finally had a use for those beautiful stains. The image was stamped on hot press watercolor paper, which is much smoother than cold press.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Ivory and Tomato Soup Card Stock
GKD Autumn Landscape Patterned Paper
GKD Flowers and Frames Stamp Set
GKD A Year of Flowers Stamp Set
GKD Dogwood and Butterfly for Greeting
Die-namics Pierced Rectangles Die Set
Distress Stains In:
*Ripe Persimmon
*Picked Raspberry
*Evergreen Bough
*Mowed Lawn

I really enjoyed doing this card - it's fun to try a new technique. Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments!!

Sweet Roses

Dear Ones~
It's been awhile since I have posted on this blog. I have been having to go down to Midland and be with my folks, both of whom are very elderly. My mom got sick and had to be hospitalized. She is home again, and slowly recovering.

The card I am offering in this post is for the Mod Squad Challenge, hosted this week by the very talented Lisa Babitz. She has challenged us to use the negative from a die cut or the like.

Here's my card:
I have to say I don't love this photo. The roses are really more the color of the patterned paper, but here it looks like they clash. And what's up with that blue cast??? UGH!! Anyway, I embossed the roses from the GKD Flowers and Frames Stamp Set with pearized embossing powder on watercolor paper and watercolored them. Then I cut a circle out of the patterned paper and popped it up with the roses behind.

Here are the Ingredients:
Core'dinations Pearls Card Stock
K & Company Best of Susan Winget Patterned Paper
GKD Flowers and Frames Stamp Set
Recollections Pearl Embossing Powder
GKD Gold Embossing Powder
Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers
Spellbinders Circle Dies

It felt good to get back into my inner sanctum - hope you are having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. I know I am. And I adore your comments, thanks for stopping by!

Vellum and Posies

Dear Ones~
Just got back from a walk. It's GORGEOUS here today!!! Actually going to be stellar all week!!

Today's offering was made for this week's Make It Monday Challenge over at Papertrey Ink. We are to use vellum to soften patterned paper. I love vellum, so I was delighted to have a reason to use it.

Here's my card:
I used the Papertrey Ink Rosie Posie stamp set here to make my own patterned paper. It's a 2-step set, but I only used the base stamp. I thought it would be fun to just stamp the images in lots of different bright colors. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. After applying the vellum over the top of the whole thing I used Enamel Accents to randomly place little white dots. Then I die cut the "hello" several times and stacked the cuts together for dimension. I think it's a pretty cute card.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Blue Raspberry, Sweet Mango and White Card Stock.
PTI Rosie Posie Stamp Set
MFT Die-namics Hello Die
GKD Inks in:
*Sweet Mango
*Red Hot
*Blue Raspberry
*Grass Green
*Sweet Corn
Ranger Enamel Accents

This will also be entered in:
Simon Says Monday - anything goes.
Simon Says Wednesday - anything goes.

That's it for me today. I gotta go back outside. Hope your day is lovely. Oh, and I adore your comments!!
