Make It Monday - String Art

Dear Ones~
Seems like it's really difficult this summer to squeeze in any craft time. Between grandsons and other commitments the days just seem to fly by.
Today's offering was made for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge. This week we get to play with string. Remember the string art you used to do as a kid? Well that's what we are doing, and it's sooooo much fun!

Here's my card:
I found some variegated tatting thread that worked perfectly for this technique, and the little doily die cut from Papertrey Ink worked really well to do my stitching. I also poked some holes in the bottom corner of my background and stitched a design there too. It's addictive, I tell ya!!! The background splatters were done with a stamp from Stampin' Up and I chose colors to match the thread. They match better in real life.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White and Blue Denim Card stock
PTI Doily Details Die
PTI Botanical Silhouettes Stamp for Greeting
SU Awesomely Artistic Splatter Stamp
SU Inks In:
*Dapper Denim
*Flirty Flamingo
*Pool Party
*Peekaboo Peach
Stash Tatting Thread
This is another one I made. Here I used GKD gold cord to do the stitching, and then splattered watered down glue on the black card stock and sprinkled it with glitter. It's really sparkly IRL.

Thanks for stopping by, I adore your comments. I hope you all have a fantastic week and are enjoying these beautiful summer days. And for those of you who are in the dead of winter, stay warm!!!

  1. These are both fantastic! Wow! How long did it take you to do these? Two wonderful color combos....beautiful cards!

  2. Ooh love your cards! How fabulous and I love the gold thread! Must try this!

  3. OH!!!!!!! I am so glad that I waited to make a comment as these cards deserve my best. Your first card is a colorful card reminding me of summer with the great colors and splatters. The texture of the stitching is so impressive. I loved doing this technique and will probably do it more. Then you come along with a second card in this busy summer. It is also fantastic. What an artist you are in your own right. I love seeing what you come up with. Love this, a winner for sure in my book.

  4. Both cards are just terrific! The variegated thread adds so much to the string art.

  5. I love your cards. Both are so pretty with those colors and I love the string art designs. I must be a lot older than you as I never did string art myself. The closest I ever got was to crochet a chain or string some paper beads.

  6. Oh my gosh these are amazing. I love both cards. similar in layout but strikingly different. One is so colorful and fun and the other screams elegance. Great job.

  7. AMAZING!!! both cards is just so bright & summery, the other so very elegant.

  8. Two more THUD cards!! Judy, your creations just knock me out!!! I remember doing this in art class decades ago! You did wonderfully on these!!!

  9. That is so pretty Judy! Love the design! Can't believe this is becoming popular again!

  10. Incredible! Between you and Barbara tackling the string art I am a loss for words! I peg these as winners for sure! So impressive and you have the patience of a saint!

  11. Oh My Word! These are fantastic! Love all of the pretty colors in your first one and then the black and gold elegance of your 2nd one! These are gorgeous! Leave it to you to make 2! I love the layering of that fabulous doily die, sooooooo PRETTY!!!

  12. Wow, those are terrific, Judy. I don't remember ever doing string art but I guess I should have. I love the variegated string on the first one.

  13. WOW! Incredible! I just love all the colors in the first one. You did a fantastic job on both. They're so neat looking! Gotta have good eyes for this kind of work!
