Mod Squad - Beautiful Butterflies

Dear Ones~

It's my turn once again to host over at The Mod Squad. This time I'm going to enjoy seeing butterflies on everyone's creations.

 SPONSOR

SHOP GINA K DESIGNS

Gina K. has been in the stamping industry since 1998 and started Gina K. Designs in 2007. As the business grew, Gina asked her husband Tom to leave his position as an attorney to join her in the business. Together they built StampTV, an online video website featuring broadcast quality paper crafting videos, galleries, a social network for paper crafters and more! Since then they have created a new website called Gina K Designs. Gina now has over 200,000 followers over her various social media networks and video sites from all around the world. Gina’s goal is to continue to offer top quality signature products through her online store Gina K. Designs, along with informative and creative crafting videos. There is also a monthly card challenge, where you have 3 chances to win a $25 gift certificate. Visit that HERE.

PRIZE

A $20 gift certificate to the Gina K Designs store.

And here is my sample:

I began with a card base of GKD Heavy Base Weight White Card Stock. The patterned design in the background was made with a gel plate using GKD Plum Punch and Powder Blue Ink. I used the Harvest Flourish Stencil to add texture. It was matted in GKD Black Onyx Card Stock. The rectangle shapes were cut with the Master Layouts 2 Die Set. Butterfly images are from the GKD Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set by Melanie Muenchinger. They were colored with Blick Alcohol Inks and cut out with the Beautiful Butterflies Companion Dies. The greeting is from GKD Fabulous Flowers Stamp Set and was cut out with the banner from the Master Layouts 3 Die Set. Gems are Trinity Stamps Midnight Ball Baubles.

I had so much fun playing with the gel plate. It's my first time and I have a lot to learn. I just used GKD Dye Inks and swiped the ink pads on the plate. Then I laid my card stock on top and lifted to get the impression. For the texture I swiped the ink on the plate and then laid the stencil on top and lifted the ink with card stock. But I wasn't done. I then added another piece of card on the already lifted plate and when I lifted THAT paper I was left with that beautiful pattern from the stencil. HERE is a fun video from Jennifer McGuire where she does this technique.

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy your comments. And don't forget to swing on over to The Mod Squad Challenge and play along. You could win the prize.

Until next time, here's celebrating your Creative Muse.
Hugs,
