Just Us Girls #417 - Photo Week

Dear Ones~
This week is Photo Week over at Just Us Girls, and I'm the host. Here is the photo I have chosen:

This is actually a photo of one of our daughter's paintings. It's called "Family Portrait" - isn't that cute? She and her husband have 2 boys, so this is her take on her family. If you are interested in seeing her other paintings, you can visit her Etsy shop HERE
I chose this because I love all the colors and I thought it would be fun to see what everyone came up with.

Here's my card:
I have a lot of background papers in my stash that I have created by playing with different Distress Inks, so I pulled out some of them and die cut the shapes.  I love this cute nest die from Die-Namites and I thought it was perfect here.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Powder Blue and Ivory Card Stock
Die-Namites Spring Nest Die
Spellbinders Feather Die
Stampin' Up Seasonal Layers Thinlits for Branches
Spellbinders Pinked Circles Die
Various Distress and Oxide Inks
GKD Cottage Garden Stamp for Greeting

I would like to thank our October Guest Designer, Karola Rehnström for sharing her creativity with us this month. It has been such a pleasure to have you, Karola!
Thanks for being with us!!!

Please visit the JUST US GIRLS blog to see the wonderful examples that Karola and the rest of the team have made this week. And remember, if you win Chic of the Week in any of our October or November challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as one of our 2 Guest Designers for the month of January!!   Good luck, and I hope to see you there.

Dies R Us Inspiration - Perky Poppy

Dear Ones~
This time over at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog I am exploring the inlay technique.

This is my card:
One of the things I love about open die images is the fact that it's so easy to do the inlay technique. I started by creating a base with black card stock, then cut a mat with red and finished off with a white panel. Then I began to create the inlay.

Here's how I did it:

First I cut the poppy in gold foil card stock with the Memory Box Perky Poppy die. Then I cut it again in red, green and black, and saved the insides of the die cuts.

The red pieces were sponged with red ink and then inlaid into the gold die cut. The black and green pieces were glued over the gold since there were no open spaces for these.

Next I cut the embellishments in red and black with Elizabeth Crafts Ribbons and Jewels dies. I wove the two pieces together. It's very easy to do with these die cuts.

Then I put it all together. The greeting is a Waffle Flower Year Round Words die.

These are the dies I used:

Memory Box - Dies - Perky Poppy

Elizabeth Craft Designs - Ribbon & Jewels

Waffle Flower - Dies - Year Round Words

I hope you will try the inlay technique. It's really quite easy, you can get amazing results!!
And don't forget to come and join in all of the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

Stash Green Glitter Paper
Stampin' Up Christmas Quilt Stamp/Die Set

Dear Ones~
This time over at Double D it's Team Darlene's turn, and the challenge is LEAVES. Use leaves on your project.
Just look at this luscious Mood Board provided for your inspiration! Is it not gorgeous??

So here's my card:
As you can tell, this is a birthday card for my dad. He is turning 99!!! I'm so thankful to still have him with me. This design has been CASED from some cards that Angie Cimbalo made recently. You can see them HERE. I thought her cards were just beautiful and I had to copy them. I have used a copper laminate which comes in a roll, think Contac Paper. I stuck it to a piece of card stock and dry embossed the panel. I think my dad will like it.

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD Black Onyx & White Card
Darice Basketweave EF
Darice Fall Leaf EF
SU Dragonfly Dreams for Greeting
SU Seasonal Layers Thinlits for Leaves

Christmas Cardinal

Dear Ones~
This is my first post as an inspiration designer over at Dies R Us. Dies R Us is a fabulous online store with a HUGE inventory of dies and other crafting tools. They carry dies from over 75 die companies, and always have discount prices. You really do need to go over and take a look

Here is the card I have made for your inspiration today:
I love Cardinals, and was so tickled when I found this sweet die from Dee's Distinctively. The die has many different sections which are cut and then glued together. Lots of dimension here.

~Here's how I made this card~

I made an A2 card base with red card stock, made a mat with black, and finally added a layer of white. The corners were punched for a more decorative look.

I die cut the cardinal with red and black card stock.

I painted a little bleach onto the beak and then sponged with a small amount of orange ink. The rest of the body and wings were sponged with red ink.

The Twig Wreath and Pine Boughs were die cut.

And then the whole card was put together.

These are the dies I used:

Dee's Distinctively Dies - Cardinal Left

Impression Obsession - Dies - Twig Wreath

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like this sweet little cardinal, I know I do!!

Just Us Girls #415 - Trend Week

Dear Ones~
This week is TREND WEEK over at Just Us Girls, and our gal Angie has asked us to make a Peek-A-Boo Card. How fun.

Here's what I came up with:
In case you hadn't noticed, it's my grandniece Maeryn's 5th birthday! What better occasion to make a Peek-A-Boo card? I have had this sweet little digi image for quite awhile and was just waiting until the right time to use it. Isn't she cute? I'm sorry I don't know where it came from, I just found it in my stash. I had so much fun coloring her with my Copics, and then I highlighted her dress and cheeks with my white gel pen. Maeryn's name was generated on my Cricut.

Here's the inside:
 These are the Ingredients:
GKD Ocean Mist, Red Hot and White Card Stock.
Colorbök Patterned Paper
Stash Digi Stamp
Copic Markers
Cricut Machine for Name
SU Layered Circle Dies
SU Balloon Pop Up Thinlits for Bow
SU Papillon Potpouri for Butterfly
