Can You Handle the Pressure - Birds

 Dear Ones~
There's a new challenge over at Can You Handle the Pressure.   For this challenge blog you MUST use an EMBOSSING FOLDER on your project.  Heat embossing (with embossing powder) is permitted but only IN ADDITION to your embossing folder design.  Each new challenge will have a 'TWIST' which is optional ... your choice to use or not.

The OPTIONAL TWIST for today's challenge is:

 Here's my sample:

I had  lot of fun making this card. It's called a Faux Shutter Card or Fracture Card. I learned about it from this YouTube video HERE.  I thought it would be fun to dry emboss 4 different colors of pastel card stock with 4 different embossing folders. Since the papers were plain, I chose to use a gold patterned paper for the thin strips. That sweet dove is a new little die from Simon Says Stamp. It has several different pieces, but one die plate, so you can cut all the pieces at once. I like that.

I cut the pieces out of a cream color card stock and sponged each piece with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The Ingredients:
Park Lane Pastel Card Stock
DCWV Preserved Paper Patterned Paper
SU Square Layering Dies
GKD Tapestry Embossing Folder
SU Fern Embossing Folder
SU Basket Weave Embossing Folder
Sizzix Pinwheel Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Mini Every Day Sentiments Hot Foil Plate
Spellbinders Glimmer Foil

  1. Those colors look so pretty, especially with the gold. I have been seeing that technique a lot lately, your take on it is beautiful!

  2. WOW what a fabulous design and love the four different embossed panels ... how creative! Beautifully done my friend ... thanks for wonderful inspiration once again!

  3. Very creative to do your fractured 'panels' with embossing, it is a gorgeous and cleverly creative card! I just watched a 'fractured' card video this morning!!

  4. Ooooh what a pretty design! I have seen that before, not sure if I have ever made one....yet lol I love how you embossed each little panel differently, gives me that warm winter quilt feel--which we need today (again....grrrr winter!) Beautiful colors and I love that gold patterned paper too--very pretty! That dove is sooooo beautiful! This is lovely all over!

  5. You have really taken that technique and run with it. I really like how all the panels fit together with the gold and that beautiful gold dove bird is absolutely stunning on this card.

  6. Once again it’s me, Barb

  7. What a gorgeous card! Your bird is amazing and I love your wonderful choice of colors and layout design!

  8. Oh, no you didn't! I'm in awe, agog, stunned silly! What a brilliant and gorgeous take on the shutter or fractured card design. I bookmarked the video, but you have made the ultimate card with this design. The dove is beautiful as well. I, too, like having all the pieces cut at once in a die like this. This card is simply incredible, Judy!
