Double D - Derby Hat

Dear Ones~
Happy May Day. It's been a long time coming this year. We thought it would NEVER turn to spring, but here we are.

This time over at Double D we are inspired by Kentucky Derby Hats. HOW FUUUN!!! Here is the Mood Board, so much gorgeousness!!!

And here's what I came up with:
At first I was stumped as I don't have anything that has to do with hats. And although we don't NEED to make a hat, I really wanted to. And I was inspired by the beautiful colors on the Mood Board. So I searched Pinterest and found this image:
I'm sorry I don't know the artist. I neglected to make note of it, I looked at so many. Anyway, I just printed this out and cut apart the pieces. Then I traced them onto the card stock I wanted to use and voilé, I had myself a pretty hat. I just added some patterned papers, some embellies, and I was good to go. I ran the top of the hat through my Swiss Dot Embossing Folder for dimension and I also sponged the edges as well. Flowers are punched and sponged.

Here is a close up....isn't it just so stinkin' CUTE???

Here are the Ingredients:
GKD White Card
GKD Ocean Mist Card
GKD Passionate Pink Card
SU Tufted Embossing Folder
SU Stitched Labels Framelits
SU Stitched All Around Stamp
Stash Punches and Ribbon

I invite you to head on over to the  Double D Challenge Blog and check out what all the other designers have done. And if you play along you could win this fabulous stamp set:
So that's it for me, thanks for stopping by. I adore your comments, they always make me smile. And don't forget to stop over at Double D, there is always so much inspiration over there.
Hugs~

  6. Oh, Darling you made a fabulous card. How clever to find a hat and use it for a pattern. The little strip of pp makes a great backdrop for the hat and the sentiment is perfect.

  8. Derby Day is all about the hats! You are so very clever and I love the hat that you created. Who cares about the horses, when you have a hat like this one. The design of putting the hat on a piece of design paper that duplicates the band on the hat is too sweet and I love the texture on the background and the hat. The crowning touch is the bow! You are so elegant and classy with this one.
